Andrew Griffith MP, Member of Parliament for Arundel & South Downs, visited Arundel Post Office to discuss the future of Post Offices as community high-street ‘hubs’ and the opportunities available to Post Offices across the UK.
Meeting with Postmaster, Paul Money, the local Member of Parliament heard about the 21 different facilities on offer at the Arundel Post Office branch, including cash deposits and withdrawals, vehicle tax and document verification. Over 30 banks, including the majority of well- known brands, now provide counter services via local Post Offices.
A recent survey of 2,000 UK adults found that Post Offices were the most important asset on UK high streets, ahead of supermarkets and cafes.
Commenting on the visit, Andrew Griffith MP said:
“Post Offices are already valued but are becoming more important in our communities as cash hubs and centres for access to Government services. That’s why I was pleased to visit Arundel Post Office to hear about the service they offer to the town.
Whilst Post Offices are crucial for shoppers, many small businesses also rely on their counter services so that they are able to continue to accept cash payments on our high-streets – something that I know many value having the choice to do.”
