I wish all constituents across West Sussex a Happy New Year and hope that all had a safe and a restful Christmas.
This is also a moment to pay tribute to the local media across West Sussex who do so much to keep us informed of the developments important to our local communities. Newspapers, local radio and these days community internet sites have all demonstrated their value over the past eighteen months where they have helped to broadcast the availability of vaccine clinics across our towns and villages.
I kicked off the New Year this week with a visit to Petworth Surgery’s recently opened booster clinic to thank the staff there for their excellent work and to hear how over Christmas and the New Year alone they have already delivered hundreds of booster doses to local residents.
Other clinics are available at Henfield Medical Centre, the Glebe Surgery in Storrington, Pulborough Medical Group, Angmering Medical Centre, the Arundel Surgery, The Croft in Eastergate, the Cowfold Surgery, Steyning Medical Centre and both GP practices in Hassocks and Hurstpierpoint. There is even a mobile service for walk-in appointments at Bognor Regis Football Club.
The booster rollout to date has been a tremendous achievement, with roughly one million people being vaccinated every two to three days and 33 million people having received booster or third dose jabs. We are winning the race with Omicron and it is this endeavour on boosters that has given us a better Christmas, the least restricted society and the fastest growing economy of any major European country.
