Andrew Griffith MP, Member of Parliament for Arundel & South Downs, has welcomed announcements in today’s Budget.
The Chancellor presented his Spring Statement to the House of Commons and the country this afternoon. Among other announcements, the most significant for West Sussex in the Budget were the Government’s £200 million Pothole Fund and freeze on Fuel Duty for 12 months, with the 5p cut also maintained.
The Chancellor also announced £63 million of financial support for community swimming pools, and confirmed that the Government would freeze duty on pints in pubs. An extension of the Energy Price Guarantee, which will retain the £2,500 cap on energy bills for millions, has also been put in place until June.
Commenting on the Budget, Andrew Griffith MP said:
“This Budget is good news for rural communities in West Sussex with a freeze on Fuel Duty, the £200 million fund to fix potholes and changes to duty to ensure pints in pubs have a lower rate of duty than supermarkets to support these important community businesses.
The extension of Energy Price Guarantee will also protect families and households as energy costs fall.”
