Andrew Griffith was invited to share his stories on his life as a new Member of Parliament with an audience of over 60 members of the Vintage Years Club in Steyning on Friday (3rd December).
The Vintage Years is a Steyning-based social club for the over 60’s who meet on the first Friday of every month. They run a varied programme of entertainment each month which includes talks, music and short films. The popular group has over 100 members.
Gill Muncey, Entertainment Manager for the group, invited Andrew to speak to their members about his experience of becoming an MP for Arundel and South Downs.
Andrew shared a candid insight into his life growing up and the early days of his business career. He spoke openly about his experience of becoming an MP unexpectedly in 2019 and the variety of work he has undertaken for his constituents. Andrew then answered questions from the audience which covered a range of issues from TV licences to pensions.
The members enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies afterwards because this was their last meeting before Christmas. The 2022 programme is already being prepared with speakers, outings and lunches. For more information, please see www.vintageyearsclub.org.
Andrew said:
“I was honoured to have been invited to speak to the Vintage Years members. They are a wonderfully active group who made me feel very welcome. It is run by some fantastic volunteers who ensure that each event runs safely and smoothly, and their strong membership is testimony to the terrific job they do.”
