I offer regular surgeries for constituents to raise specific issues where I may be able to assist. In order to ensure that I have time to deal with each case properly these are by appointment and obviously they are reserved for residents living in the Arundel & South Downs Constituency which you can check here.
The locations of my surgeries are rotated across my large rural constituency and if your town or village would like to host one of my surgeries, please get in touch to let me know. They are usually held in a Village Hall or similar community facility but I have held them in a Pub and I would be open to being hosted anywhere that there is the chance to sit in some privacy with constituents.
Surgery appointments are prioritised for those in direct need of help or advice on issues affecting them that I can conceivably help with. These might typically be problems that you or a loved one are having with National Government Departments, the NHS, the Department of Work and Pensions, HMRC or something specific that you might like me to raise in Parliament or a Minister on your behalf. Please see my website page 'How I can help you' to understand what an MP can or can't do for constituents.
Whilst a face to face meeting is often useful – and I do personally enjoy meeting my constituents and hearing their stories – sometimes an issue can be dealt with faster via an email or telephone call and this should usually be your first point of call.
There are also some matters such as local planning applications, potholes, neighbour disputes or the Criminal Justice System that I am unable to deal with. On many subjects relating to County or District Council matters your Local Councillor may be better able to help and you can find their details here.
On broader policy topics it is more appropriate to write to me to share your views as my post box will give me a good sense of the balance of opinion within my constituency. Again, I very much welcome this interaction with constituents and will endeavour to respond personally to all but the impersonal ‘standard template’ style correspondence which some lobby groups resort to.
